Cape Town’s Winter Comedic Tonic Returns

Cape Town’s Winter comedic tonic, The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival delivered by Turkish Airlines returns to the Baxter Theatre for its 13th edition from 10 July to 6 August 2017.

Boasting a stellar cast, which includes three internationally acclaimed comedy variety performers, together with a top-class bevy of local stand-up comedians.

Founded and curated by Eddy Cassar in 1997, the Cape Town Funny Festival has become one of the City’s jewel events, addressing seasonality and heritage. The Festival consists of 30 gala type shows, showcasing the Mother City’s top comedic talent alongside some the world’s foremost variety acts.

The local cast includes Marc Lottering, Alan Committie, Dalin Oliver, Mel Jones, Loyiso Madinga, Ndumiso Lindi and Daniel Mpilo Richards. The international variety performers include Mario: Queen of the Circus from the US, veteran comedic contortionist Captain Frodo from Norway and award-winning Edinburgh Fringe Festival comedy magician Paul Dabek from London.

Tickets cost R190 each, with generous discounts being offered to groups of ten or more. The Cape Town Funny Festival has become a favourite fundraiser for many local clubs, schools and organisations. It is billed as a “fun night out for the entire family”.
